A scheme that will link India-based developers of small-scale solar projects to help them earn United Nations (UN) carbon credits has been launched by Emergent Ventures India (EVI).

The programme is aimed at helping developers navigate the auditing and approval process that the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) requires, as well as reduce costs, Reuters said.
EVI operates across 15 countries and aims to develop commercially sustainable ways to mitigate climate change.
Although the CDM is designed to be deployed by the deployment of clean energy projects in developing countries, smaller developers often miss out due to the high cost of registration and labour-intensive UN processes.
The company told Reuters the programme is still very new and it has approached 50 to 60 project developers with three projects signed-up.
The Indian government has launched an ambitious National Solar Mission and is due to allocate solar developers this month.
