Contract Wins: Honeywell’s UOP, B&W and Consumers Energy, Constellation and MASCPA
Supplier Haldor Topsoe has selected Honeywell company UOP to install technology at the Antipinsky Refinery in Russia that will recover and purify hydrogen to help produce cleaner fuels more efficiently. Refineries (pictured) use hydrogen in the hydrofracking process to convert heavy oil to lighter, higher value products such as transportation fuels. The new hydrogen unit, which is scheduled to start up in 2013, is part of the refinery’s plan to increase its capacity of crude oil processing by as much as 7 million tons per year. The unit also will allow the refinery to produce fuels that meet the European Union’s Euro-5 standards aimed at reducing emissions from light-duty vehicles. |
