Trina Solar wins 22MW PV order from Origin Energy
Chinese photovoltaic (PV) developer Trina Solar has been contracted by Australian energy company Origin Energy to supply PV modules with a combined capacity of around 22MW over a one-year period. It has not yet been revealed which projects Origin will use the equipment for. |

Statkraft partners with SCA for 60MW Swedish wind farm
Norwegian energy giant Statkraft has partnered with Swedish company Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget (SCA) to construct a 60MW wind farm in central Sweden. The Stamasen 1 project is the second wind plant that Sratkraft is developing in the country with SCA. |

JinkoSolar bucks trend with 150% revenue increase in Q2

Ming Yang sees orders increase but net profit slip
Chinese wind turbine manufacturer the Ming Yang Wind Power Group (MY Wind) has recorded revenues of RMB1,405m ($217.4m) for the second quarter of 2011, a 7.2 per cent increase on the same period last year when the figure was RMB 1,310m ($205m). Gross profit for three months was RMB267m ($41.3m), a 7.3 per cent increase compared with the second quarter of 2010 level of RMB249.1m ($39m). |

Dong sells off 50% stake in Nordkraft Vind
Danish power company Dong Energy has sold its 50 per cent stake in Norwegian wind developer Nordkraft Vind for NOK145m ($26.5m) to Nordkraft Produksjon. Dong said the size of its operation in Norway no longer requires a strategic focus on expansion in that market. |

Vestas picked by E.ON to supply 112 turbine for US wind farm
Danish wind giant Vestas has received an order for turbines with a combined capacity of 202MW from E.ON Climate & Renewables North America. The project name and location has not yet been disclosed but the order is for 112 turbines each with a 1.8MW capacity. |

Noble Foods gets go-ahead for on-site turbine in Scotland
UK-based egg supplier Noble Foods has received planning permission to install a 110 metre, 1.5MW wind turbine on land at its agriculture, milling and packing centre in Fife, east Scotland. The project is being developed and installed by micro generation specialist Wind Direct and has been granted conditional approval by the local authority. |

SMA Solar’s first half sales down by €100m
German photovoltaic (PV) manufacturer SMA Solar has recorded first half sales of €715m, €100m less than the same period last year. Consolidated net profit in the first six months was down by more than 50 per cent as the company recorded net profit of €73.5m, compared with €158.2m in 2010. SMA generated EBIT of €103.7m, a significant reduction from last year’s figure of €219.9m which was a record period for the company. |

German solar company Conergy has reported second quarter sales of €225.2m, a 40 per cent increase on the first quarter but a decrease compared to the same period in 2010 when sales were €239.4m. |

AEG receives order for 5MW project in India
Energy component manufacturer AEG has been contracted by India-based Surana Ventures to provide electrical systems including inverters, monitoring and measuring equipment for a 5MW solar plant in Gujarath, west India. Since March, AEG has had orders in the country for projects with a combined capacity of 25MW. |

nkt cables contracted by 50Hertz to connect Baltic 2 offshore wind farm
Danish transmission specialist nkt cables has been contracted by German energy company 50Hertz to install high voltage subsea cables for the Baltic 2 offshore wind farm. The deal is valued at DKK750m (€95m) and equipment for the project will be manufactured at a facility in Cologne. |
